My Superhero Characters

Let me introduce you to some recurring characters in my fiction, whom you will probably be hearing about somewhat in the future. As the title suggests, they aren’t normal beings.

-MUSCLE GIRL is a human alien, nine years old, resembling a Caucasian girl. She has blonde hair cut short, with tufts on either side of her head, and oversized electric blue eyes. Her uniform consists of dark pink body-stocking tights covering her body, white panties and a white cape, with an “MG” monograph on her chest and cape. She wears a pair of silver platform-like shoes with high lifts to increase her short height and limited reach and maximize her physical power on duty. These are not worn when she is portraying her secret identity, schoolgirl Gerda Munsinger, in her home in Manitoba’s Interlake region, to ensure the safety of her heroic persona.

-CERBERUS is a half-alien, half-Earthling dog resembling a six month old Dalmatian puppy, although her slender and innocent-faced appearance obscures her enormous strength, vast speed, genius-level human intelligence, and other physical, mental and enhanced canine powers. She has a large, wide head, big blue eyes, an oversized black nose, and large triangular ears which taper to points at the end. Her tail in and of itself is enormously strong and mobile, and is able to carry large amounts in excess of its weight, function as a sword when made stiff, and provide aid in other ways to its mistress. Cerberus’ uniform consists of a white cotton T shirt with a large “C” on her chest, which she can disguise with a false front to blend in with the rest of her white and black spotted pelt when necessary. When not on heroic duty, she is “Cuddles”, the mild mannered pet of very young Gudrun Parker, or resting and recovering in her technology-strewn doghouse from where she monitors the world for situations that may require her involvement.

-CANDY GIRL is an American Caucasian girl in her mid-teens. She is tall, with long arms and legs, has long red hair that flows down to her shoulders, and dark black eyes. Her uniform is a sweatshirt and sweat pants colored very dark purple, with a red belt on the pants, rough-hided leather gloves and steel-toed boots. On the ring finger of her left hand, she wears an emerald ring set in a purple metal clasp, which is the primary source of the super-powers granted to her when she utters a silent incantation; when not wearing the ring, she reverts to her secret identity, Candace Van Draanen, and becomes (comparatively) meek and helpless physically. The ring was presented to her by Cantus, the alien boy who served as her one-and-only boyfriend for a brief period, whose reputation as an intergalactic policeman in his use of the ring she is now trying to live up to in her own right.

-POWER BUNNY is an anthropomorphic rabbit in her mid-twenties. She is a denizen of Anthropomorph, an alternate dimension of Earth where beings that are not human in nature here are fully humanoid in body and mind. Her fur is primarily pink with flashes of white around her long ears. She wears a blue sweater, skirt and cape, with “PB” monographs on the cape at the chest of the sweater. Her eyes are light blue and her nose is pink. When not on duty as a superhero, she is freelance writer and journalist Barbara Bunny.

-Finally, THE BRAT is an alien from a distant galaxy who physically resembles a three year old Caucasian girl, although she is actually a fully grown adult. The left half of her body is physically organic, while the right half is mechanical; the latter is disguised to look as “human” as possible. She wears a blue cardigan sweater, unbuttoned to reveal a white T shirt with a black “B” in the center, a dark blue skirt which goes down to her ankles, and light yellow-colored shoes. Her hair is blonde, and her eyes blue. In her homeland, she fought as a soldier, so her face repeatedly displays a mix of child-like innocence and hard-boiled cynicism, the two qualities coming out at unexpected times in battles with her enemies and conversations with friends. Her given name, which provides her with a secret identity, is “Precious”.

I write about them independently and together, and I hope to publish and re-publish a fair bit about them here in the future. So I hope you can make them feel welcome here.

P.S. If anyone wants to make illustrations of them, be my guest. Just make sure I get to see them.

I’d love for someone to illustrate each of your characters–like the person who created the image of Muscle Girl!

Thank you, Deborah. I hope I can find somebody (I’m not sure I want to trust the AI illustrating programs yet).
